When you need a break from the slopes or you’ve come to Breckenridge during the summer months and need some respite from the heat, this beloved Colorado mountain town promises to keep you and the family entertained and making memories. Since 1991, the Breckenridge Recreation Center has been drawing locals and visitors with its huge offering of athletic and community activities. In today’s post we will introduce you to all the center has to offer, its admission rates and the hours of operation for each season.

Located at the north end of town and easily accessible via the transit system or the Blue River Bikeway, the 69,000-square-foot rec center is a popular attraction in Breckenridge. And with its long list of indoor and outdoor activities it’s easy to see why. The rec center offers the following amenities:

  • Indoor rock-climbing wall (top rope, bouldering and lead climbing)
  • Fitness equipment & weights
  • Cardiovascular equipment
  • Aerobic/dance studios
  • Fitness studios
  • Gymnasium
  • Pro-Shop
  • Racquetball court
  • Basketball courts
  • Indoor running track
  •  Indoor swimming pools (lap and leisure pools, slides)
  • Sauna and steam rooms
  • Indoor & outdoor hot tubs
  • Indoor & outdoor tennis courts (four clay tennis courts and four hard tennis courts)  
  • Outdoor lighted softball fields
  • Soccer/Rugby field
  • Lighted skateboard park with a nine-foot-deep pool
During the summer and winter months, families love spending hours of fun at the Breckenridge rec center pools and spas. The Leisure Pool has a large slide for both children and adults and a small slide for little ones. There is also a lazy river swim stream, basketball hoop and a vortex pool. The Lap Pool has four swim lanes, two basketball hoops and a rope swing. Summer visitors can lounge on "The Beach" which is a large grassy area with lawn chairs for those who want to soak up the sun.

For the fitness enthusiast or those just wanting to pop in for a quick workout, the Breckenridge Recreation Center has something to offer for every fitness level. The center offers a fun and varied schedule of drop-in fitness classes taught by certified and motivating instructors and are included in your membership or daily admission. Examples of classes include:

  • Water Aerobics
  • Cycling
  • PiYo 
  • Zumba
  • Barre Fusion

The center also offers personal training sessions, group training sessions, nutritional counseling, and body fat testing and consultation.

The Breckenridge Recreation Center’s hours of operation are:

Winter Season (Dec – Apr)
Monday-Friday: 6:00am-9:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am-7:00pm
Sunday: 8:00am-7:00pm


Summer Season (May - Nov)
Monday-Friday: 6:00am-8:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am-6:00pm
Sunday: 8:00am-6:00pm


Please note the Aquatics Area closes at least 30 minutes prior to facility closing.
